This is the outcome of the 2011 Big Game: Alien Aggression…
The morning sun rose over the more than 400 campers, in tents, on the front lawns of WASAGA Paintball. The day started out with both Alien and Human teams preparing themselves and gear for what would be referred to as an epic battle. An unprecedented 1,920 people would soon engage each other in record shattering numbers near Ontario’s paradise town of Wasaga Beach.
The competent staff of 90 employee’s and volunteers were put to the test serving the 1,920 players plus non playing friends, family, and media. Not to mention the 13 different vendors set up on the beautiful 20,000 square foot indoor field. Lines dissipated quickly as staff hustled to meet the needs of the friendly and excited crowd.
The game started sharply at 10:00am. The Alien General, Dave Kratky, effectively organized his troops to execute an initial strike. The plan worked flawlessly and the Human team was caught on their heels with the speed and momentum of their opponents. Battle lines were drawn deep inside the blue teams territory and the Human General, Mike Stanley, had his work cut out for him.
Despite the pressure from the Alien team, the Humans focused their efforts on completing missions and began to push the Aliens out of key areas and away from Core Harvesters. The Humans took control of the field by noon and were able to exploit the one weakness of the Alien team….Free Corn on the Cob. General Kratky found his hands full defending against a base attack until his corn consuming commandos returned.
The Aliens quickly gathered in full strength and reclaimed over half of the field. Both Generals were now sending out devastating tank attacks against each other’s team. One memorable Alien tank attack had the YouTube sensation and scenario veteran Dre Wolf in the front gunner seat. Hoo Ya BABY!! Laser designation teams dealt out surgical Drone strikes while the spy’s reeked havoc behind enemy lines.
As it began to rain, both teams fought on until a close flash of lightning and a loud clap of thunder caused the game to be paused. A short 30 minute break gave each team a chance to grab extra paint and air and browse through the venders for some last minute accessories.
Prior to the restart, each General was given their next mission. They were to assemble a 4 man HASMAT crew. The team was dressed in protective Bio-Suits and given a tool to open a hidden access panel under the crashed Attack Saucer. They were tasked with retrieving Alien bodies and tech from inside the ship. General Stanley chose his team well. They were led by none other than OLN network Survivor Man himself; Les Stroud. As both teams were trying to acquire the Alien bodies, the area around the Saucer became a hot zone of fire fights. Les handled the mission like a pro and with the help of his team, managed to return two Alien bodies and a weapon powered by Core Material which was added to the Human Core Containment Cylinder.
The Alien team’s failure to recover the bodies and tech from the crash site plus an EMP bomb diffuse mission gone wrong kept the score pretty even. With the end of the game nearing, General Kratky orders his team to push hard against a wet, tired and battle worn Human team. Smelling the blood in the water; the Alien team unleashes wave after crushing wave on the Human base.
With less than 50 minutes remaining in the game the Alien team manages to fill, overfill actually, their Core Containment Cylinder. Meanwhile the Human cylinder was sitting at about 75% full. Thinking this was the end of the game the crowd received one final mission. The full Core Containment Cylinder was prepared for transportation and placed in a crate. The crowd had been getting reports all day of the Alien team building something in the MIA fort. The Game Director revealed that what they were building was a Sub-Space Transporter Platform; not that different from the movie “StarGate”. Its location in the MIA fort was chosen due to its remote power requirements from the crashed Saucer and the ability to defend against attack.
With the SSTP being located in the middle of the field, the Alien team would not have an easy task getting the Core Containment Cylinder off world. If it were to be captured and returned to the Game Director the game would be won by the Humans. If the Alien team was successful in delivering it to the Sub-Space Transporter Platform it would be transported off world to the Alien Home Planet. The entire game now pivoted on the ownership of this one prop.
With the MIA fort already controlled by Aliens it seemed that their victorious destiny was sealed…. except.. General Stanley was curious when he heard the Alien team was building something in the MIA fort. He tasked his most skilled and trusted spy to infiltrate the area. The General’s spy didn’t like the looks of the Sub-Space Transporter Platform. He knew, whatever it was, it would be much safer under Human control.
As the SSTP was still top secret, details of its purpose had not yet reached the MIA fort. The Human spy exploited this lack of information. He was able to convince a nearby Alien sergeant that he had been sent by the Alien General with a mission to move the Sub-Space Transporter Platform to the crashed Saucer site. This area was under constant attack and changed ownership often. It was the closest he dare have them bring it without raising suspicion.
A surprised Game Director received reports of what was transpiring on the field. As the Core Containment Cylinder was moving closer to the MIA fort the Sub-Space Transporter Platform was moving away from it. The Human Spy’s plan was working. With any luck the Alien team would come under attack and be forced to abandon the SSTP.
The Alien team had now amassed a huge security force around the Cylinder. Advanced scouts were sent ahead to the MIA fort to inform their team of the arriving Cylinder. Jaws dropped as the scouting party learned the Platform was moving away from the fort into enemy territory. The scouts informed their nearby team members of the approaching Cylinder and headed out to recover the misappropriated technology. By this time the Human Spy had disappeared into the forest. The scouting party was able to catch up with their mislead teammates and informed them of the approaching Cylinder. The deceived sergeant scanned the area for the mischievous spy but he was no where to be found.
A defensive perimeter was formed around the Sub-Space Transporter Platform. Soon an unchallenged Alien force almost 100 strong emerged from the forest into the road close by. A cheering Alien team watched as one very proud member placed the Core Containment Cylinder crate on the Transporter Platform and sent it to the home world.
The Alien team celebrated their victory back in the staging area and congratulated their opponents on a game well played. $20,000 in prizes were handed out to a wet but cheerful crowd.
Although the Alien team made it off world with a full Core Containment Cylinder, the Human team didn’t go home empty handed. They recovered a Core Containment Cylinder from the Saucer crash site as their first mission. Over the course of the day, the Humans managed to recover enough Core Material to fill their Cylinder over 75% full. This past week, scientists reverse-engineered an abandoned Harvester and injected the Core Material back into the center of the Earth. This action has slowed the cooling of the planet and bought the Human Survivors time.
Earth’s only hope is to understand and utilize the left over Alien technology. We must search the stars for these Alien aggressors, take back what is ours, and revive the Earth’s Core.
THE DEAD LINE IS 17:00 Eastern Standard August 18th 2012. If the Core is not returned to the Earth by the Dead Line the damage to the planet will be irreversible.
